How does an on-location photo session work? One thing to keep in mind that all on-location photo sessions are unique. The typical on-location photo session (your home or a favorite public park) lasts between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours. The length of the session really depends on the client. (Little side note: bring water, especially during the summer months).
When choosing a location for your session, keep in mind that if you choose a park, it needs to be public. If a permission to shoot on the grounds is required, please let the photographer know. The East Valley has some neat backdrops, e.g. the Superstition Mountains (great for couple, family and Senior shots). The photographer’s personal favorite locations are the Mesa Arts Center, Freestone Park in Gilbert and Civic Center Mall/Park in Scottsdale.
Children session:
The photographer likes to familiarize herself with the child/children before starting the ‘official’ session, so the session might take a little longer than an hour. The best shots with younger children are candid shots. This allows the photographer to capture the personality of the child/children. You may bring as many different outfits you like for the session. It is also recommended to bring drinks, snacks, or a favorite toy/book, especially with smaller children.
Senior session:
Do you have a favorite spot in the East Valley? It can even be your High School (again, make sure it is allowed to take photos on High School grounds). Do you have a vehicle you would like to have in your Senior shot? A favorite instrument? Different favorite outfits – bring them. Remember, the session is about you and your personality.
Family session:
A family session can take up to 2 hours. Again, it depends on the location, the size of the family, if individual shots are requested, how old the children are. It is recommended to bring drinks, snacks, or even a favorite toy/book, especially with smaller children. Have pets you would like to include in your family portraits? They are more than welcome
.
Couple session:
The best time for couple sessions are close to sunsets. Why? Because of the glow of the light. Do you have a favorite romantic spot? You can come as casual or dressed up as you like.
