Reception Book

Posted on October 18, 2009

Several months ago I came across “The Album Cafe“; they offer some marvelous templates for press-printed books. I really liked their reception book, so I created this past week one for Bob and Krissy as a wedding gift (I hope they will like it). I sent the pages to WHCC last night — can not wait to see the finished product.

I wanted to share a couple of the pages with you. The first one is the cover page (of course the original will not have my watermark on it  )…

The second one is a page in the middle of the book…

I think this is a wonderful product to offer clients. This is something different that your normal reception book or large photo.

If you know of someone who is interested in an engagement session and would like to have a book created for their wedding reception, please let them know about my services :)

Thanks for stopping by today…

A Giveaway and A Template Switch

Posted on October 17, 2009

My sweet friend Lori directed my attention to an amazing giveaway over at “The Savvy Photographer”. Since I am still trying to build my business  I believe that the Workshop Workbook by Skye Hardwick will greatly improve the business side of my photography. Although my chances are slim in winning the Workshop Workbook, I still wanted to give it a shot. If I don’t win, I have to see if my funds allow to purchase the book (heavily discounted until October 21st).

Also, I made a template switch this past week. When I saw the template on my hosting company’s website, I knew that I wanted it  . What I especially like about this template is that my visitors can see some of my work on my main blog-page. I probably will update the photos in my header more often so you can see what I am up to :)

Thanks for stopping by today…have a super blessed weekend…

Senior Prom 2009

Posted on August 1, 2009

In July, I joined Lori Nordstrom’s photography forum “Photo Talk” . I was really hesitant on joining, because I don’t see myself in the same league as the photographers on the forum. But you know what? I can learn a whole lot from them. I really, really want to become a great portrait photographer; learning from the best photographers in the business is a great way go get there, right?

A while back (actually in May), I went to take photos for a friend — her son’s prom. Although I didn’t see it as a ’session’, I think my friend was happy with the photos I took. This session really got me thinking about getting into portrait photography (thank you Darcy :) ) — I just love capturing people and their emotions…

Not only do I learn about photography at the Photo Talk Forum, but Lori and her staff share some marvelous templates that we can use for our clients. So, last week I sat down with the prom photos, formatted them with a storyboard, sent it off to the printer. Darcy really liked the outcome of the print (oh, I loved it too  )…I think that I will offer these storyboards from now on to my clients. What do you think?
